Troon Vineyard | Blue Label Malbec 2014 – Applegate Valley AVA

Wine:  Troon Vineyard Blue Label Malbec – Applegate Valley AVA, Southern Oregon

Vintage: 2014

Alcohol:  13.7 %

Suggested Retail:  $29.00

Specs:

Composition: Malbec 100% – 50% from Varner-Traul Vineyard, 50% from Troon Vineyards.

Winemaker Comments: Native yeasts. Blended barrels of Varner-Traul Vineyard Malbec and Troon Vineyard Malbec, after 15 months aging in neutral Burgundy barrels.

TASTING NOTES:

Robe:  Dark garnet robe.

Nose:  Red fruit, savory herbs, white pepper hit on the back-end.

Palate:  Crabapple, fennel combo with a bright, medium-bodied bouche. Right now it’s more of a monolog than a dialogue, but worth sitting next to at the table for future conversations.

Suggested Pairings:  Pair this with Mexican food, spicy sausages, or a winter stew.
