The Haunting of Drearcliff Grange School by @AnnoDracula

By Pamelascott

Of course, Drearcliff Grange School was haunted.

Amy Thomsett - the girl who flies on moth wings - is confident she cansolve any mystery, sleuth out any secret and defy any dark force. With herfriends in the Moth Club she travels to London to take part in the Great Game,a contest of skill against other institutes of learning. In a nightmare, and inthe cellars of a house in Piccadilly, Amy glimpses a spectre who might havedogged her all her life, the Broken Doll. Wherever the limping ghost is seen, terror strikes. And the lopsided, cracked-face, glass-eyed creature might wellbe the most serious threat the Moth Club have ever faced.

I didn'trealise this was the second book following on from The Secrets of DrearcliffGrange School and I feel I may have missed something because I didn't readthe second book. I loved the idea of the book, a sort of St Trinian's forgifted girls, daughters of superheroes, evil masterminds and the like. It is alot of fun and has a wealth of possibilities. I loved the opening of the book whenAmy and her fellow pupils take part in 'The Great Game'. This section of thebook is crazy at times and packed with action and drama. The book takes adownturn when Amy and co return to the school and story becomes embroiled inschool politics. I found this dull at times. There are too many characters tokeep track off and very little to make me care. There are pages and pages ofjust information overload and no actual action of activity. I may read thefirst book to see if this changes my mind.
