He pulled out the dagger and held it in front of him. "You don't control me!" he said. "I'm not a monster." He held the dagger above his head, ready to throw it and be rid of it, but he couldn't stand the thought of losing it. He collapsed to his knees, bringing his arm down and resting the blade on his lap. He pictured Rani crying on the floor after he had attacked her. He could hear the sickening snap of her arm breaking as she fell. He remembered Beynn lying unconscious and bleeding. "I ama monster," he said into the dark.
