(Paris) The pandemic of the new coronavirus has caused at least 509 241 dead worldwide since the WHO office in China reported the onset of the disease in late December, according to a report by AFP from official sources Saturday at 11 h.

More than 11 138 640 cases of infection were officially diagnosed in 180 countries and territories since the start of the epidemic, of which at least 5 727 400 are today considered cured .
This number of diagnosed cases, however, only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections. Some countries only test severe cases, others use testing as a priority for tracing, and many poor countries have limited screening capacity.
Since the count made on Friday at 15 h, 4376 new deaths and 180 827 new cases have been recorded worldwide. The countries with the most new deaths are Brazil with 1290 new deaths, Mexico (4634 ) and India (442).
The United States, which recorded its first coronavirus-related death in early February, is the country most affected in terms of number of deaths and cases, with 124 584 death for 2 818 588 case. At least 790 404 people have been declared cured.
After the United States, the most affected countries are Brazil with 63 145 dead for 1 539 78 case, the United Kingdom with 44 196 dead (284 900 case), Italy with 29 854 dead (241 419 case), and France with 24 893 dead ( 199 367 case).
