Altitude will release James Erskine’s THE FLIGHT OF BRYAN in cinemas from Friday 22 November, with the first-ever trailer launching today.
The genre-busting film tells the extraordinary true story of how unemployed amateur cyclist, Bryan Allen, and heavily in debt father of three, Paul MacCready, together with a rag-tag team of neuro-diverse outliers, set out on a death-defying and mad-cap quest to untangle the mystery of human powered flight and in doing so win the most coveted prize in aviation.
Combining a remarkable trove of recently discovered 16mm documentary footage in an imaginative and ground-breaking way with scripted scenes, personal testimony and fourth-wall busting encounters between the real Bryan and the actors bringing his story to life, this uplifting tale of ingenuity, courage and determination, challenges us to question the assumptions we make about about society’s outliers and reminds us of how the stories we tell can help us to understand and perhaps change the world.
Erskine said, “Throughout the film-making process we pushed the envelope, just as the pioneers of human powered flight did in the 1970s. I hope audiences will be both inspired and entertained by our unconventional film about unconventional people doing the most extraordinary things. I’m thrilled to be launching The Flight of Bryan in UK cinemas.”
On October 21st, it was announced that The Flight of Bryan is on the BIFA longlist for Best Feature Documentary Sponsored By Intermission Film.
