The Five Must Have Bags for Fall 2019 - Trend Talk

By Saumya Shiohare @myriadmusings1
I always talk about shoes, cuz I have so many but I always forget about bags, which I have in abundance too. Over the years I've become more bag-conscious and my new life mantra is "Quality over Quantity." I buy three or four bags in a year and each one is very thoughtfully picked out. I do my research, window shop to get a feel of the bag, peruse the retailer's website carrying that bag, ask my friends and then I finally buy it from the retailer offering the best price and customer service. I know I make it sound like a lot of work for buying a freakin bag, but when you are spending hundreds and thousands of dollars, you better be smart about your investment... right??
Well, today it is about bags but not essentially about the high-ended ones. It is more about the bags that are trending the fashion scene. Everyone is carrying those and you might want to add a couple to your arsenal to keep all FOMO at bay.
#1. Slouchy bags  If you've seen this bag everywhere, then you gotta have it cuz slouchy bags are in vogue. Don't have the budget for it, then this might be a good option. Slouchy bags might look a bit frumpy but the best way to carry them and make it look less frumpy is under your arms. My bag today is a trendy iteration of a slouchy bag. It is specious and when I say spacious- I mean it could  fit in a big stole, my full size wallet, my phone, my makeup case, my keys, a banana ( I always carry a fruit in my bag) and a couple other beauty paraphernalia.

#2. Crocodile-embossed bag  If you are not rocking the animal print trend this fall, then you are missing out on a major Instagram-breaking moment. Honestly, I feel animal print is more classic and never goes out of style. Crocodile-embossed is not exactly a print, it's just a texture and pattern embossed on leather. It is quite similar to snakeskin, but with larger scales and a more raw, wild vibe. I have been so obsessed with this texture that I even bought a pair of boots in crocodile-embossed leather.

#3. Structured bags
This trend has been around for a few years now and I don't mind it being one of the top five trends of this year as well. The structured bag has a three dimensional geometric shape, think cubes, spheres, cylinders and such similar shapes. These bag have a quirky vibe to them and what I appreciate the most about these bags is that all your stuff stays organized- nothing messes around.
#4. Oversized bag
For all those ladies, including me, who like to bring their entire house in their handbag, there is some exciting news- "now you can fit your entire closet in your bag and still have room for a few extra items with the oversized bag trend." Big totes and satchels have been and continue to be a hot bag trend this fall. I have been stalking this personalized beauty, hopefully Christmas will come in a little early this year for me.
#5. Fur/ Feather bag
Fur might sound fuzzy and warm but a fur bag sounds fashionably awesome and cool to me. It's like mixing my two favorite silhouettes - Fur and Bag ( total music to my ears ). From coin purses, to smaller bags to larger totes, there are myriad options to choose from. Of-course cruelty-free fur and shearling is chic and the way to go. But if you aren't a huge fan- a purse strap in fur or this one seems more likely your type then.
Some other bag trends to look out for this fall are the coin purse, extra fringed hobos, the double bag and the belt-bag. Which one is your favorite?
