The proposal to increase electricity tariffs by 65% is scheduled to be discussed during the cabinet meeting chaired by President Ranil Wickremesinghe this today (09) afternoon.
It is reported that after the approval of the Cabinet, the proposal will be forwarded to the Public Utilities Commission.
Meanwhile, the Electricity Distributors Association says that the public petition against the increase in electricity bills will be handed over to the Public Utilities Commission today.
