The Electric Run – San Diego, California – March 26!

By Debi Lantzer @debiL1611

Sometimes I think Florida is the place to be if you are a runner – our season runs from October to April.  We have all the Disney events in the Orlando area, and we have a zillion other fabulous races that I can’t even begin to name. We also have some “fun” runs – the kind that aren’t always measured or timed but are great for families, friends and co-workers to get together and run together – like the Color Run or the Color Vibe Run, the Insane Inflatable Run or the Great Inflatable Race.

Just when I thought I had heard about all the really cool runs out there, I heard about one more that I wanted to share with everyone – it’s the World’s Premier Nightlight 5K called the Electric Run!  Believe me when I tell you this: I wish a quick trip to visit my parents in San Diego was in the budget because this one looks fun! (Maybe next year, Mom and Dad♥)

On Saturday, March 26, Electric Run, the premier 5K nightlife run, returns to San Diego recharged with heart-pumping music along the entire course, electric lights and lasers, five new dance party zones, ELECTROBANDs—an illuminating LED bracelet that automatically syncs with the music—and more eclectic features. Participants can party their way through a vibrant atmosphere and cross the finish line to end their journey at an epic after party with a live DJ, light show, dance floor and multiple food and drink vendors.

The Electric Run will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and benefit Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence, a non-profit that works to educate communities on the dangers of domestic violence, connect victims and survivors, and assist in the transformation of those affected by domestic violence.

“We are pumped to bring the Electric Run back to San Diego. Taking some time off gave us the opportunity to create an even better experience for our participants,” said Joe Lopez, Electric Run’s race director. “We are turning the volume up this year—taking the adrenaline of a 5k, remixing it with a dance party, adding the thrill to a night out with friends and charging it up with brand new technology.”

Electric Run is a product of Bigsley Event House, a leading creator of experiential events including The Color Run, The Color RunNight and Soul Pose.

New elements to the 2016 Electric Run include the ELECTROBAND and five new dance party zones. Every participant will receive an ELECTROBAND, which will connect the thousands of participants together by syncing the music and lights to their LED bracelet. Each zone will play a different genre of music from Disco to EDM and have designated neon-colored lights. The ELECTROBAND technology will sync with each zone’s music and color so runners and walkers will be able to easily identify when they have reached a new dance party zone.

“We wanted to create a way for people to get healthy in a fun way, by turning the run into a party-like atmosphere so participants forget that they are even completing a 5K,” said Lopez. “We take a lot of pride in producing a quality event that will ensure our participants enjoy themselves and have a great time while they work out and run.”

Each participant will receive a custom race kit, including a glow in the dark t-shirt, UV reactive body markers, race bib and safety pins, and of course the ELECTROBAND LED bracelet. An option to upgrade race kits to receive additional gear is also available with the deluxe registration package. Electric runners are encouraged to wear illuminating lights, neon gear and crazy bright colors. ElectricWear is available for purchase online at www.store.electricrun.com.
