Arizona-based startup Eggcyte, lead by a former Intel engineer, has come up with a solution to this problem by introducing The Egg – a portable handheld personal web server that gives you full control over your own data. With this super-compact wireless device, you get to store your valuable data, photos, videos in your own personal server, without having to worry about cloud services stealing your personal information or getting hacked.

Featuring an Intel Atom Processor, 320 x 240 pixel color screen, 1GB of RAM, WiFi a/b/g/n connectivity and powered by Tizen OS, The Egg gives you instant access to all your personal content and your Egg website. It’s truly a remarkable way to keep your data safe, especially for people who take their privacy seriously.

Eggcyte is now seeking $500,000 to crowdfund this neat gadget into production. Check out their Kickstarter page for more info.
