The Death of Fear

With a topic like fear it’s a good time to examine my own fears and how they affect my work, life, and thinking –

Reading what others have said about fear helps me clarify and conquer – today I’m quoting Mark Twain – twice.

In thinking about this I think that Mr. Twain, who wrote so prolifically and with so much spirit, may have dealt with fear himself.

Though not surprising – it’s heartening to me as I write, as I explore my own views – that fear is a common emotion and that there are things, ways, and thinking that will overcome it.

Here’s what Mark Twain said,

“Do the thing you fear most and the death of fear is certain.”

To me this means, write, create, and do your gift, your art.

And also from Mr. Twain,

“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.”

These two short quotes give me hope and excitement – first because they suggest that fear is something that can be overcome – and I believe that.

Second – good thoughts can be written concisely which is one of my goals.

And third, that even when I’m feeling a little afraid – to do it anyway, write or record or post it anyway.

Remember you create your day by the way you think – Think magnificence and fear has no room to rest!

Blessings, Shawna
