Once again the release day of the film has arrived and again the film has failed to hit the screens. We are of course talking about King Akkineni Nagarjuna’s upcoming release Damarukam, which, when launched, was expected to have a late 2011 or Sankranthi 2012 release.
Is this the first film which is going through delays like this, well no its not. There have been films in the past like Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s Puli and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Maharathi or even Manchu Vishnu’s Dhee which have been postponed indefinitely after the release of the audio but then once a release date was announced even after such long gap, those films made it to the cinemas on the said time unlike Damarukam.
Most recently we have had another such issue again with another Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Adhinayakudu but even in this case all and sundry knew the film would not release on the speculated date as there was no confirmation from the producers side and no ads were given in paper. What’s sad in the case of Damarukam is the makers of the film have announced release dates officially without even a single print of the film being ready to send out for release. They blocked the theaters too and have not released the film.
Who is to be blamed here? One may ask. The blame entirely goes to the producer of the film who has been playing with the emotions of the fans. In the case of Damarukam hero Nagarjuna and other big wigs in the industry have tried their best and some are still trying but the dues from the producer’s side are just increasing with each passing moment.
At this moment even the overseas distributors are said to be demanding a refund of the money they paid for the films rights. Still all this shouldn’t have mattered to the fans but the repeated announcement of the release dates without any actual release is hurting them a lot, which, today, has turned into anger leading to tearing and burning of posters at places.
Let’s hope for the sake of the hero Nagarjuna and Akkineni fans things do get solved soon. But is this the end of troubles for them or just the half of it as they also have to see through the release of another Akkineni film, Autonagar Surya, from the same makers. We pray that a similar situation does not happen all over again. Our sympathies are with Akkineni Fans.
