Don't get me wrong. I believe the American people should have access to their White House. But is that really as important a story as the cuts in food stamps, housing assistance, and Head Start (not to mention the cuts in myriad other areas)? Of course not! Why then is that story endlessly reported while the much more serious cuts are virtually ignored?
Could it be because that's the story the corporations want you to see? They don't want you to see how much the cuts affect hurting Americans, because then you might demand those corporations pay their fair share of taxes -- and you might oppose further cuts (as proposed in the mean-spirited Republican budget plan).
