Four years ago when I first arrived in Sweden, we drove to the site once we saw the publicity poster but alas it was too late to get the tickets. Then I got pregnant, gave birth and for some reason, we missed the circus in the past two years.
So this year, we HAD to see it by hook or by crook since it's our final chance.
Coincidentally, we chose to watch it on Sunday May 13th, which was Mother's Day that day. The hubby decided to treat us to VIP first row seats and it was a good thing that Angel could go for free. Phew.
Days before the show, there were promotional activities going on around town, including drawing competition, face painting, horse riding etc.
It wasn't a surprise when Angel wanted to try the horse riding. Hello, what are the chances of riding on a real horse right in town. I mean, we all know she loves animals and dares to touch pythons, so of course she was keen to have a go at horse riding and for just 20kr, it was a small price to pay for a big smile.
What shocked me was when we saw the face painting booth, she saw other girls getting their faces painted and said to me "Mummy, I want to be a tiger!" To be honest, I was a little taken aback and I took her words as a joke. I was even skeptical about whether she could accomplish sitting there getting her face painted when she is only two and all the other kids seem to be at least four years old.
I guess, she never fails to amaze me.
For the entire 15-min session, she sat obediently on my lap, closed her eyes and lips when she was told, never fidgeted an inch or squirmed away in fear or discomfort.
See her final look? I have never seen a more adorable tiger cub! Yeah, call me biased.
Well, she managed to give Daddy a shock when he came home that day. And guess what, she loved her new face so much that she refused to bathe.

Finally, it was the long-waited day.
Prior to our arrival, a friend had warned us that it might scare Angel to be seated at the first row and being so up-close to the elephants, camels, horses and clowns who went around spitting water. Well, ended up Angel dug it so much, couldn't stop clapping and waving to all the animals and characters. Yes, that's my girl.
Dear Angel, mommy is so proud of you and I truly hope your courage will carry you a long way in life.
So, catch the circus in action in this short video clip I did. My girl loves watching it and it makes my effort worthwhile just to see her happy face.
Well, there couldn't have been a better way to spend Mother's Day this year.
