The Cardigan That Took All Year

By Bertyc @bertyc
I have been knitting this cardigan for over a year now. Here's my first blogpost about it. And my second ever blogpost! Here are a couple of photos:

It started after a cold winter's day visit to a wool shop when I saw the book it features in. I fell in love, for me it really is the perfect cardigan. I toyed with making it in a classic black or gray wool but went for the lilac in the end, apparently purple works for me and it's slightly more interesting. I tried it on yesterday in front of my sister and we decided I look like a yeti. This is fantastic, I'll be a very warm yeti lookalike.
The love after seeing the book developed into a quick calculation on the back of an envelope and a response of "oh, it costs THAT much to make. Forget it."
Which turned into "I'll just buy a few balls of wool and the booklet and see how I get on."
And then "Happy Birthday! Here's a lot of lilac wool, you can go and knit yourself that cardigan now."
I have nearly finished it, well over a year after I started it and nearly a year after I was gifted the rest of the wool for my birthday.
I can't wait to finish it and show it to you. Especially as I'll look like a yeti. A yeti in a wearable blanket.
