Searching for a fun time in Calgary, want to take in a Flames game, or maybe just glut yourself into a food coma? Well, do I have the place for you! While spending a few months in Calgary, Kenin and I made a visit (well, a few visits) to The Canadian Brewhouse. Warning: Food Porn ahead!
The Canadian Brewhouse – Calgary Location
We started our meal with a classic Canadian dish, Poutine! This was a fancy version made of Montreal smoked meat grilled and layered over a bed of fries, topped with chopped dill pickles with mustard on the side. The mandatory cheese curds and gravy are found soaking into the crispy fries for a mouth full of heaven.

Jalapeno poppers are one of my favorite appetizers. When you take something as amazing as a jalapeno popper and wrap it in bacon then bathe it in a delicious orange mystery sauce, you might as well stick a flag in it too, because it’s a done deal. Beware of toothpicks though.

We washed down our appies with some delicious Caesars. The Canadian Brewhouse is very well-known for their many varieties of these delicious drinks. They actually feature a hometown favorite for each city they have a restaurant in. Seeing that Caesars were invented here in Calgary, you can find them everywhere, but no one makes a Caesar like the Brewhouse. Notice the beautiful pickled green bean.
Caesar – A meal in a drink
Come on! There’s even a pepperoni stick in my drink! This is taking a cocktail to a whole different level.

Kenin and I had to share this badass of a burger. It was two patties of Alberta beef goodness. I couldn’t resist ordering a burger. The Canadian Brewhouse makes all of their patties into maple leaves. Then they stick a nice little Canadian flag in it. This burger was pure adorable meets badass beast. Can you say NOM!?!
Beast of a Burger
The John Candy burger is double maple leaf patties, crisp bacon, sautéed mushrooms, fried onions, mozzarella, cheddar and BBQ sauce along with all the regular burger toppings like pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. Someone call the tractor. I am going to obliterate this burger and then be wedged into this booth permanently. Food Coma here I come.
Nom Nom Nom
For desert, yes there was still a little room, I made my first venture into the toffee pudding world. It’s a moist cake topped with thick vanilla custard then topped again in sticky toffee. OMG! Where have you been all my life? Needless to say, I have consumed my fair share of these since being introduced to them at The Canadian Brewhouse.

The Canadian Brewhouse in Calgary has its own baby Calgary Tower. All of their restaurants feature not-so-little details like this that embrace the restaurants home city. These fine details just add to my adoration for the place. It is somewhere that I will continue to visit until my time in Calgary is up.

They also feature a massive collections of televisions which I can assure you are great for catching a hockey game or two
It’s Sports Central :-)
If you ever find yourself driving past a Canadian Brewhouse stop in for a bite and a brew. Just make sure you have time for a nap before your next adventure. They feature a large selection f beers on tap as well as a hefty bottle and specialty cocktail selection.
Hey baby, nice taps :-)
A the Canadian Brewhouse their motto is “our house is your house” and I can tell you that we definitely felt that way on each of our visits. The staff is always warm and welcoming and is there to make sure that you enjoy your time spent there as much as the food
