Verdict on The Buckingham Murders
Recap
We follow a grieving detective thrown into a new case of a murdered teenager. She must confront her emotional state to solve the case, which has more mystery than she was expecting. However, the backdrop of tension between religious groups could blow the case wide open.
Best Parts
This movie uses the grieving nature of Jaspreet to drive the story forward and keep us wondering what will happen. It keeps us guessing along with the case, which is filled with twists and turns. There is a social commentary about different groups judging each other, and that includes religious groups.
Worst Parts
I think that the worst part is how the head of the department instantly puts Jaspreet on a missing child case knowing her personal situation. It feels insensitive and you would want to welcome a stand-out detective with a calmer case.
Performances
Kareena Kapoor is brilliant in the lead role. She takes her character who is filled with grief and makes her feel compelling and determined. Kareena stands out from the rest of the cast, as the character who is willing to do anything. That being said, most of the fellow police departments tend to fill the stereotypes in a department, collecting pay checks over solving the crimes.
Final Thoughts –The Buckingham Murders is a crime story which keeps you guessing.
