Plot: Follows two rookie detectives who set out to solve a homicide, but end up in an alternate reality made up of their worst nightmares.

Story: The Blue Rose starts when rookie detectives Lilly (Welch) and Dalton (Baron) start investigating a murder. When the early clues point to the victim’s wife Sophie (Smith), sends the detectives to family member Norma (Bisutti). The pair continue their investigation, which sees them traveling around and meeting a host of colourful characters.
However, one clue keeps returning, a blue triangle. This only ends up sending them down an even darker path as they look for the truth. Can the plucky young detectives solve the crime before they lose their minds?
Verdict on The Blue Rose
The Blue Rose is a fantasy mystery horror following two young detectives trying to solve a murder. However, the case takes them down a dark path where they must deal with their own reality. As they must battle their own past demons to solve the biggest case of their young careers.
This is a surreal horror movie that thrives on the era setting. It uses this to create characters from a bygone era of Hollywood. This gives us a mystery that isn’t as clean-cut on the outside and leaves us questioning the reality of everything we see. We get a movie here that keeps us on our toes, surprises us around every corner and leaves us wanting even more. With strong performances, we get a fun, original and surreal horror movie that embraces the world it creates.
Final Thoughts – The Blue Rose is an original surreal mystery experience.
