Story: The Black Book starts when a ruthless kidnapping case takes the country by storm. It ended in bloodshed and now the hunt for the kidnappers has started. Deacon Paul Edima (Mofe-Damijo) keeps his community safe, including his son Damiloao (Oworu). However, General Isa (Omiagbo) looks to show the country an easy person to blame. His men target Damilola and leave him dead without getting to tell his story.

This sends Paul out on a mission to search for answers. He does have a lawyer helping him seek legal justice. However, Paul refuses to accept her help and decides to get answers and justice in his own way.

Verdict on The Black Book

The Black Book is an action thriller following a father who sets on a revenge mission against the people who framed and murdered his son. He finds himself getting involved in a bigger conspiracy in the city and looks to put an end to it. However, the group isn’t going anywhere without a fight.

This does play out like most revenge movies, watching a lone figure going after a massive criminal organisation. It shows that they have a secret and they have the skills to get it done. Even if they live a normal quiet life. It plays out like you would expect, with plenty of twists along the way. However, it is the fact nothing is held back that makes this stand out that little bit more. This ends up being a good thriller and one that is well worth a watch.

Where to Watch: The Black Book is available on Netflix now.

Final ThoughtsThe Black Book is a great revenge thriller, through a wall of corruption.
