Our carpets are often one of the most dirty and germ ridden places in our homes, as although they may receive regular hoovering, they rarely have a professional steam or dry clean. We walk on them all day spreading the dirt from one room to another and spillages or accidents cause stains that build up. This is why your carpet does need a regular clean and if you live in London, nothing compares to a professional deep carpet clean completed by Premium Clean.
Depending on which type of carpet you have and what is made from, there are two main options for types of carpet cleaning. They are the steam cleaning method and the dry cleaning method. A professional carpet cleaner will be able to test your carpet to ascertain if your carpet is made from natural or synthetic materials (or a mix of both) and then they will advise you which method would suit your carpet best. The steam cleaning method is preferred as it is usually more effective, but the dry-cleaning method must be used for more delicate carpets due to the high temperatures used in steam cleaning.
Steam Cleaning
There are many steps a professional carpet cleaner will take during a steam clean of your carpet. After they have tested the carpet to ensure steam cleaning will be safe, they will start by using a pre spray which will be worked into the carpet to rouse any minor stains. Next, they will use a hot water extraction machine. The type of machine should depend on the size of the room being cleaned and again, the material carpet is made from should determine the temperature that the professional will use whilst cleaning your carpet. It could take anywhere between 2 and 24 hours for the carpet to fully dry after the steam clean but the carpet can still be used as usual, but it is recommended to wear overshoes for walking on a wet carpet and also to use protectors on the feet of any furniture going straight back into the room.
Dry Cleaning
For dry cleaning a special dry cleaning powder will be worked into your carpet and the powder will mix with any dust or dirt and it will separate from the strands of fiber. Once the powder has had enough time on the carpet, a powerful vacuum cleaner will be used to suck up all of the powder with along with the grime.
