It is still so crazy to think that last Christmas it was just me and Wade. As cliche as this sounds, I cannot remember what life was like before our sweet baby Ralph. The amount of joy that sweet baby Ralph has brought Wade and I over the last (almost) 4 months is indescribable!
With the holidays rapidly approaching (can you even believe it), Wade and I have started to think about our plans and what traditions we want to start with our little guy. Growing up the holidays were such a magical time of year for me. My sisters and I would look forward to this time of year because my parents always went above and beyond. It really is the best time to be a kid.
Although this Christmas Ralph is still really little, I am looking forward to implementing traditions and watching him enjoy the magical season. Our plans for our first holiday season with baby Ralph are first and foremost to keep it simple. He is so little and is on such a (wonderful) schedule, that it makes mixing up his ‘routine’ not something that we are going to be doing. We plan to do little fun things with baby Ralph that are holiday related but also work with his schedule!
One of my favorite things to do as a kid was look at Christmas lights. We used to spend hours driving around after dinner with my parents looking at all the pretty lights in our area. Baby Ralph is too little really know what we would be doing but we plan to ‘stroll’ him around Highland Park Village after dark and look at those lights. They are my personal favorite in Dallas and I think since they are so concentrated, he will really enjoy ‘looking’ at the lights (if he was in the car, he wouldn’t be able to see lights on houses). Another one of my favorite things to do during the holidays is spend Christmas Eve at my grandmothers. Even though we won’t be able to stay all night because baby Ralph goes to bed pretty early (it usually goes pretty late), I am so excited for baby Ralph to get to experience what we have been doing all of these years!
Lastly, something that Wade and I do every morning that we are able is have coffee together. It has turned into the most wonderful morning routine and ever since Ralph arrived we have continued to have our morning coffee sessions, except now baby Ralph is laying in the middle of the bed. Morning coffee happens quite regularly but the morning coffee session I am most looking forward to is on Christmas morning.
Last Christmas, Wade and I made a big breakfast, watched A Christmas Story and spent the day relaxing and enjoying each other. We plan to do the same this year, except with baby Ralph! Coffee (a bottle for Ralph), Christmas movies and opening gifts in bed sounds like the most relaxing and special day. Of course no special morning is complete without a cute pair of pajamas. I thought this pair of pajamas would be precious for baby Ralph to wear during the holidays and of course on Christmas morning for his very first Christmas! I also thought this little hat from Gymboree is the perfect compliment to the holiday pajamas (Ralph loves having a hat on to keep his head warm). Gymboree has such a great selection of pieces for your kids that are not only seasonally appropriate but also so soft and adorable (Ralph loved the pajamas and cannot wait to wear them again).
The holidays really are the best time to be a kid and I am looking forward to watching sweet baby Ralph grow up and seeing this magical season through his eyes.
Do you have any holiday traditions? If so, I really would love to hear!!
