The Best of 2012

By Sowanddipity @Sowanddipity

Wow! It’s incredible what can happen in just 1 year. I honed my blogging style, renovated my site….and even changed my blogs name! I was invited to join amazing forums, met new VFF’s on line and had some very successful posts that sent my stats off the charts.

So without further ado, let’s look at the Top Ten posts that made….

The Best of 2012

# 10  From Grocery Bag to Garden Bed

This is one of my first posts of the year. Starting celery isn’t new, but I took this a step further and went cruising the produce aisle for other vegi’s I thought might be fun to root at home as well. Click on the title to visit the post to find out what else I tried to grow.

#9  Decorative Bark Mulch

This post raised a few eyebrows. I used two different colors of mulch to create these floral designs in my front garden beds. But don’t let these pretty flowers fool you, this mulch serves a function as well. ( And YES…the design is still there months, winds, rains and snow later! )

#8  PolyTunnel Tutorial

This project is what first connected me to the industrious and magnetic Miriam over at Hometalk.com Thanks to her, my blogging world hasn’t been the same since. I feel blessed to be apart of the Hometalk Bloggers Facebook Page where my projects are shared with other talented amazing bloggers and where I learn something new EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!

Now more about the PolyTunnel….I use it seasonally here in the Pacific Northwest to protect my young plants from frosts in spring and to keep rain off my tomatoes during the summer. For about $50, you can make one too…..check it out.

#7  Toilet Paper Tube Craft

Ok…this one makes me chuckle. This is the first craft of the year and it totally took off! It got featured dozens of times and still gets tons of hits everyday. So why is it my #7? Well, this was posted on my old blog and I decided to go by the stats on my current site which is only been active since August. Sooo…this would have probably been in the top 3 but who want’s to be famous for a TP roll anyway?

 #6  DIY Garden Signs

These cute little signs and they’re humorous sayings have received a good response. I believe that they will continue to rank well over the years. For a full list of sayings you may want to use for your own signs….Click on the link above.

#5  How to make a Decor Mesh Bow

This simple video has had close to 6000 hits on YouTube. No chatting, no silly music…just me, the birds and the 2 min demonstration.

#4  Decor Mesh Holiday Tutorial

An instructional video that show’s how to use Sinamay in your holiday decor. I do these demonstrations live throughout November on location at Potters Christmas Store and enjoy seeing the looks on the women’s faces when they realize that they can do this too.

 #3  Soup Can Caddy

I LOVE this project… just a few materials and presto! This was the last project on the old site…all of which have been pulled over of course to this WAY more awesome blog…wink. Yes this one is going to get a lot more traffic in the coming months….stay tuned

#2  Tomato Cage Christmas Tree’s

What a hit these were! Yes, wrapping cages with lights is nothing new…. but I went a few steps further by adding Sinamay and balls to give these little trees a whimsical touch. Go to the post for the full tutorial.

#1  Frosted Illum-MASON-aries

Mason Jar Projects….gotta love them. And people did….that’s why this post got the most hits this year hands down! You’ll love making these and popping them into corners to add ambiance to your holiday decor.

Other contenders that were close but no cigar….

Rustic Burlap Tree’s

Another Burlap Tree

Fresh Herb Wreath

I would like to finish this year off by expressing my gratitude.

First a special thank you to my husband who has been a big support in this endeavor and has come to my rescue many a time when I was experiencing technical difficulties…thank you for helping me with the thingy thing’s and the which-a-ma-bob’s…. I love you.

And a huge BIG thank you to all my friends, family, and fans in real time and in ether land who have shared, commented and encouraged me to keep on keeping on.

Hugs and Happy Trails…..see you in the New Year!
