The Best Looks from NYFW

By Bigcitylittleblog @feakins

Trends come, go, and come back again. See what stood out at this spring's fashion week in New York City.

A Belted Waist

Structure is always flattering, and cinching the waist creates a feminine, shapely silhouette. This trend isn't exactly new, but it's different from yesteryear. Right now we're seeing more simple, monochromatic belting that blends seamlessly into the look.

Feelin' Groovy

Fashion repeats itself, and the 70s are back. After years of skinny jeans we're finally seeing more shape in high-waisted flares. Crochet, fringe, and suede are also having a serious moment.

Where We Saw it: Tommy Hilfiger, Derek Lam, Karen Walker

Pantone's Colors of the Year

Perhaps 2016 will be there year of indulgence because Pantone has picked not one- but two- colors of the year. According to Pantone, "Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace."

Where We Saw it: Cristian Siriano, Rebecca Minkoff, Mara Hoffman

Skin is In

"Strong not skinny" seems to be very in vogue, which means crop-tops and cutouts are here to stay. Let's be honest: if you've worked that hard on your killer abs and toned arms, you'll want to show it all off. Pair your crop top with a high-waist and lady-like shape to avoid looking like Sport Spice. Unless, of course, that's what you're going for.

Where We Saw it: DKNY, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Prabal Gurung

Tropical Punch

Spring flowers are so passé. This year, slip into something more exciting like banana leaves and palm trees. We're always longing for a tropical getaway, and this may just be the next best thing.

Where We Saw it: Rag & Bone, Tory Burch, Yigal Azrouël

White Out

I'm all about a monochromatic look, and I'm definitely seeing a pattern here. While darker colors (read: black) are definitely more flattering, there's something so crisp and fresh about white from head to toe.

Where We Saw it: Alexander Wang, BCBG Max Azria, Zac Posen
