Top load washers and front load washers

Traditionally, washing machines have been top loaders and no one has had to choose between that and a front loader in the past. Today, however, the choice comes down to a question of comfort, size, and layout of your laundry room, maintenance issues, and efficiency. It has been said that the spinning wash motion of a top loader, whether the washer has an agitator or not, is not as efficient as a front-loading tumble wash process. It should also be noted that most front loaders use less water than top-loaders and are therefore more environmentally friendly. That said, you can buy a high-efficiency top charger that will use less water and energy.

Front-load washers

Front-load washers have been shown to be more effective at removing stains than top load washers. However, if you are already used to pre-treating stains, or if your clothes are usually not very stained and just dirty, this probably won't be a problem for you. The new top-loaders also have much deeper bins than their predecessors, which could prove to be a problem for smaller people who cannot reach the bottom of the container.

In general, today's devices use more plastic parts than older ones. They are also packed with a lot more electronic components than older devices. That said, modern machines, in general, don't seem to last as long as they once did. When it comes to which design lasts longer or requires more maintenance, there isn't a huge difference between front loaders and top loaders.
