A day after filming with us near Brooklyn’s McCarren Park, The Barr Brothers (@thebarrbrothers) kicked off the early show at Mercury Lounge on Thursday night. The Barr Brothers, Brad and Andrew, were joined by Andres Vial and Sarah Page (and that big, beautiful harp of hers). Their sweet brand of indie folk echoed through the tiny club to the delight of everyone in attendance.
Aunt Martha (@auntmarthaband), a young upstart from across the Hudson, headlined the early show. Fronted by the powerful pipes and folk rock guitar of Tim Noyes, the band began wailing out one high energy tune after another, mostly off of their sophmore album Norway, ME. Their sound was extremely well balanced with violin, smooth vocals, and some bars from the electric keys. They have a great sound and, man, can this guy sing.
