The 66th edition of the award, which was created by France Football in 1956, will release the Ballon d’Or NFT series. Usually, the NFT owners will have access to one of the unique football circles in the world.
Below is everything you need to know about the Ballon d’Or series:
What is the Ballon d’Or NFT series?
One of the main goals behind the Ballon d’Or NFT series is to make the trophy more accessible. To clarify, each NFT acts as an access to a slew of benefits. This contains access to the prestigious Ballon d’Or award ceremony for the next 20 years.
In addition, NFT holders will have access to unique live experiences. Aside from this, Fantasy football fans will have an opportunity to collect limited edition Sorare mystery cards. In addition, all five winners of this year’s awards will get a digital twin of their award.
With this NFT series, L’Équipe group aims to establish itself in the growing Web3 space. Eventually, it aims to attract tech enthusiasts to the ever-growing Ballond’Or football community.
Who created the Ballon d’Or NFT series?
Contemporary artist Léo Caillard is the creator of the spectacular Ballon d’Or NFT series. A graduate of the Gobelins School, Caillard is a crypto artist and member of the NFT Factory collective.
These NFTs are based on pyrite – the stone which forms the base of the coveted prize. Pyrite is an extremely rare mineral composed of precious metals and atoms, making these trophies really one-of-a-kind. Due to the NFT series, football fans will currently have a chance to own its digital version.
Additionally, the NFTs are based on the Tezos blockchain. As reported by L’Équipe group, Tezos’ scalability and low carbon footprint made it the excellent choice.
When does the series drop?
Initially, L’Équipe group auctioned three exclusive 3D NFTs designed by Caillard the previous month. The winners will have access to the awards ceremony on October 17 at the Theater du Châtelet. As mentioned earlier, each winner will receive one NFT from the series during the event.
Second, on October 23, a 24-hour private sale will be activated. During the day, 1,772 NFTs out of a total of 2,022 NFTs will be up for sale in Tez for whitelisted users. The price of each NFT piece will be 199 Euros. Thereafter, the series will officially drop on October 25th. The NFTs price will be 249 Euros during the public sale.
Eventually, on November 8th, L’Équipe group will auction two exclusive Caillard NFTs. The single prints are being auctioned by Millon auction house.
