The Auberge Des Saints-Peres in Aulnay-Sous-Bois: Even One-stars Don't Hit on All Cylinders, All the Time.

6.1 L'Auberge des Saints-Peres, 212, ave de Nonneville in Aulnay-Sous-Bois, 01.48.66.62.11, closed weekends and Wednesday nights is a place I've ranked just below Fredy Giradet's ever since I had a spectacular meal there in 2008.  So when my former downstair's neighbor and I realized our birthdays were coming up, this seemed to be a good place to celebrate.

Two amuses came in rather prompt fashion; one a spoonful of barley with horseraddish fluff, the second a combo of beets, mache and raspberry fluff, and we also started off wine-wise with a bottle of the not-300 E Margaux.

Then came a bit a a wait for Madame's Baba pain epices and sauteed foie gras (very good); Monsieur's tartare of gambas and veal (nice) with celery root ice cream (clever); and my chicken livers with mango on top (equally clever).

Then a much longer wait for Madame's very nice veal mignon with morilles; Monsieur's so-so chouquettes of lamb; and my large piece of farm pintade with tons of vegetables and five different condiment-type things, which while I realize pintade needs sprucing up, seemed a bit much.

Then a bit more of a wait for the cheese chariot to roll by but well worth the wait and a 1/2 bottle of Cadillac Bordeaux.

We all got a dessert treat of a shot-glass full of creme caramel and carambar and then I had and tried to share a quite good Paris-Brest with ice cream.

Our bill, with no bottled water and good bread, was 201 E for three, thus 134 E a couple.
