Story: The Apocalypse Box starts when a potential first lady Helena (Wicks) joins a group of 6 strangers. They are taken to a remote location where they must take part in a game. The game involves a box with a select number of keys that grant wishes. However, if things are not done correctly, there will be consequences.

As the night continues, the strangers learn more about each other and why they have been selected. However, the more sinister reason they were selected comes to light and becomes a battle for survival.

Verdict on The Apocalypse Box

The Apocalypse Box is a horror thriller following 6 strangers forced to play a game on the eve of a general election. They must unlock a box which grants them wishes but people must be careful what they wish for.

This movie has a very interesting concept, one I would have liked to have seen more of. It wants to dive into the idea that political opinions create hatred but never go deeper enough. Everything we see felt more like a generic wish granter, and outside of one of the wishes, nothing shocks (though one wish granted is the highlight of the film). There also seems to be a struggle to get the point of the game over and by the end, it seems to be one person’s redemption story, than the bigger idea it presents. Even though we could have had more, I would still want to return to see another series of people trying to understand the box.

Final ThoughtsThe Apocalypse Box has a great idea but struggles to make an impact with it.
