The Antlers played their first hometown gig in what seemed like years last night at Manhattan venue (le) poisson rouge. The set was filled with all the songs you’d hope and pray they would play, delivering one gut-wrenching gem after another, and tearing the crowd to shreds. While they band has always been very impressive live, it seems as if they’re even further coming into their own — everything from Michael Lerner’s tight percussion and Darby Cicci’s stunning backup vocals to lead singer Peter Silberman’s pitch-perfect wails — it’s all coming together in the most amazing way possible.
