CHARACTER INTERVIEW
Shane Davis from The Afterlife of Lizzie Monroe
Shane is a typical 21st century guy with 21st century friends until he saves a crying girl who died in the past.
Where do you dream of traveling to and why?Anywhere away from Dixon, Tennessee. I don't care where. As long as it's not here.

Tell us about your family. Um.... I have twin sister, Cheyenne. A mom I never see and my dad, well.. yeah... next question.

What was the scariest moment of your life? I'd say hearing those screams coming from the church basement after I'd set it on fire that night ranks up there. Finding out the screams came from the long dead Lizzie Monroe-- Pretty much covers 'scariest moment ever'. I hope to never top it. Ever.

What songs are most played on your Ipod? Anything with a really killer drum beat. I'm a drummer. I like to play along. Love's Suicide, my band, has a few demos out I listen to on occasion, but they remind me of Drake. And it's not a good thing when I think about what he did to me. Yes, I'm still bitter. I have every right to be.

If you could apologize to someone in your past, who would it be? Lizzie, I guess she literally is in my past. I'd tell her I'm sorry. Because I am. For everything.

Who should play you in a film? Me.

What one word best describes you? Destructive.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I'd say the whole Lizzie Monroe thing would be surprising. Most people have never seen a "zombie", though I don't think of her as that. I think of her as the girl I grew to lov-- who I grew to tolerate. Are we almost finished?
Is there a piece of advice that you have received that has really stuck with you? If so, what was it? I keep going back to Lizzie because it's still fresh in my mind. She taught me that just because you have a heartbeat, doesn't mean you have heart. And to not waste my time on Earth. You never know what's going to happen. That girl saved me, and I'll never be able to thank her enough.

Is that it? Are we done...  BOOK INFORMATION
If Shane Davis had it to do over again, he wouldn't have gone out that night. He wouldn't have burned down the church. And he sure wouldn't have taken the annoying dead girl home with him.
Now that Shane has her, he has no idea what to do with her. He can't release her into the "wild" because people will recognize her (being a hundred and fifty year old town 'legend' will do that). He can't send her away because she can't take care of herself yet. And she can't stay because if people find her, they'll know he burned the church. Being eighteen now, Shane definitely doesn't want that fact coming out.
Unbeknownst to Shane, someone has figured out the girl's secret and will do anything to get it for himself... even kill the girl who isn't so immortal after all.

“I’ve been here all of five minutes, and I know everything.”

“You think you know everything,” Shane challenged.
“I know,” he said with a much deeper voice. “Lonely Lizzie tried to kill herself by slitting her wrists. That’s why they were bleeding when we came in, and the ring was off. When I walked in the door, I saw you put it back on and voila, she’s alive again. So, I daresay, it’s the ring. I ask again, is it just Lizzie or can anyone use it?”
“And I’ll tell you again, I don’t know,” Shane said forcefully. He gripped Lizzie’s hand tightly. She didn’t know if he meant to or not, but she squeezed it back.
“Sure, you don’t.” Drake scoffed.
“I don’t.” Shane stopped, shut his eyes, and took a deep breath. “Look, we just found out about the ring. We were trying out a theory when you walked in,” Shane said.
“We?” Drake smirked. He pointed from Lizzie to Shane. “Tell me you haven’t actually been sleeping with the dead girl, have you Shane?”
Shane jumped to his knees, but Lizzie grabbed his arm to keep him from attacking Drake. She wasn’t worth it.
Shane looked down at her, his face hard. “He needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.”
Lizzie opened her mouth to speak, but Drake beat her to it. “And I bet you are the one to teach me, right, Davis?”
“Shut up,” Cheyenne said, stepping in front of Drake. “You two just cool it. You’re acting like children.”
“He started it.” Drake sat back down on the rolling chair in a huff. He ran his hands thought his hair and sighed.
Lizzie tugged on Shane’s arm to pull him down to her. He complied, but didn’t seem pleased about it. He wrapped his fingers around hers, holding her hand. If Lizzie’s heart could beat, it would have beat out of her chest. Even though he was holding her hand, he kept his eyes on Drake and Cheyenne. Lizzie wasn’t even sure he knew he was holding her hand, but Lizzie knew and she didn’t try to let go.
