A cat became an accidental flier of a flight school in Kourou, French Guiana, when the flight instructor Romain Jantot neglected to include looking for a feline stowaway in his pre-flight checklist.
French Guiana is on the northeast coast of South America.
The black-and-white stowaway makes her appearance about 37 seconds into the video below.
Jantot reassures us that:
“the cat was INSIDE the wing, not on it. she was actually pretty safe in there, the danger was if she wanted to get down to reach us. I was the pilot, the woman was on her first flight as a passenger. she smiles and giggles a lot, well because that’s what flying does to people sometime. I told her not to reach for the cat. I told her not to move at all actually. I trusted the cat to not move if we didn’t try to reach for her.”
Thankfully, the cat had the good sense to stay still and all ended well.
Jantot says, “The cat is doing well, she is still our mascot.”
