The ABC’s of Creating Healthy Habits

School is back in full swing and with all that homework comes the unhealthy options at school. I’m not just talking about the cafeteria either. I’m talking about all of the candy and junk food snacks your child is offered every day as well. Though our busy lifestyle can interfere with our efforts to eat a healthier diet, we are committed to giving our routine a refresh and creating healthy habits this school year.

Snack Preps

This is exactly where healthy habits begin, nutrition! When it comes to Pinteresting lunches, you can go full blown Picasso and recreate a picturesque view of anything you can imagine. I think the tricky part is convincing your littles of the healthy snacks to include with their meals. The easiest way to solve this dilemma? Meal prep. Grab a box of snack ziploc bags and organizing tubs from the dollar store. Fill each little baggy up with different options for your littles to choose from. This way they can be a part of the process in packing their lunch or picking a snack after school and have a wide variety of options to choose from.

Healthy habits are also created by letting your little ones burn off energy. No, that’s not on any technology device, its stepping outside and getting their feet moving. This school year I’m making sure my boys are playing outside for a good solid hour. Doesn’t matter if its riding bikes or playing dodgeball, as long as they’re moving, they’re creating a healthy habit.

Bed Time

Did you know its recommended school aged children 6-13 years old should get 9-11 hours of sleep? Though homework can sometimes cloud our timeframe, we strive to keep a strict bed time enforced. No one likes waking up a cranky kiddo in the morning and having to fight to get them out of bed. Your little ones should wake up happy and ready to start their day if they’ve had enough sleep.

Daily Vitamins

As much as we try to incorporate a healthy diet, sometimes our children still lack some of their daily nutritional needs. Incorporating a multivitamin daily is even easier than you think with Nature Made® KIDS FIRST® Multivitamin Gummies. They are not only great tasting, (yes, I tried them!) but come in all-natural fruit flavors that your kids will love from Orange to Cherry to Mixed Berry!

These little yummy gummies do a great job and helping to fill key nutrient gaps in your child’s diet and aim to support their overall health.† They contain 12 essential nutrients including vitamins A, C, D, E, B vitamins and minerals like iodine and zinc. No worries about synthetic dyes, preservatives, or gluten either because you won’t find any in these gummies!

Since I am Vitamin D deficient and my oldest is pretty fair skinned, I decided to pick up the Nature Made® KIDS FIRST® Vitamin D3 gummies as well at Target. Target offers a wide variety of the Nature Made® vitamins so I had lots to choose from for my littles. Also, its Target so any excuse to go in is all I need! Not to mention they are always rocking some kind of deal through the Cartwheel app!

Even though things may get hectic throughout the year, its never too late to start teaching your kid’s healthy habits for the school year. Choosing high-quality vitamins and supplements from Nature Made® is just one of the many options out there to get your family on track.
