The 1975 ‘Heart Out’

The 1975 are really getting a name for themselves at the moment. They’ve been on our radar for a while and only last week supported our very own Bastille, who last year supported Emeli Sande and was the featured singer on the last single of the week.

The 1975 are an alt-rock band from Manchester, a very good city to be form right now. With a slightly californian sound, they like to play with synth sounds as well as the classic guitar, bass and drums line up. This track is very light and up beat with a constant synth bass line and flourishes of a constant tinkling/floating synth sound in the background. We even get the nice surprise of a Saxophone in the middle 8. Here at TWSH we are very appreciative of this as two of us are saxophone players and it’s an instrument that doesn’t get used nearly enough in main stream pop music anymore.

This track is definitely worth a listen but if its not your bag then why not check out their track Chocolate. It’s racked up over 5 million views on YouTube and the guys recently made it to number one with their self titled debut album so they’ve definitely got something going from them.

Let’s hope that they don’t end up as one hit wonders, and fingers crossed they make it as a headliner at next years iTunes festival.
