Thanksgiving 2012

By Lilveggiepatch @Lilveggiepatch

Another great Thanksgiving season!

It’s one of my favorite holidays because you’re entire job- for four whole days- is to spend it with your friends and family.

A few steps into George and Judy’s apartment… bourbon for everyone!

Judy sets a beautiful table.

And look! A wreath made of chilies!

I usually gravitate toward the kitchen (surprise, surprise)…

… while others sit around sipping cocktails.

At our house, George plays the piano. At his, my mom plays.

We brought a few things this year: brussels sprouts sautéed in oil with chestnuts, currants, pomegranate molasses, and green beans.

Baked Artichoke Squares. Not a recipe I’d normally have chosen (my tastes really have changed since going to the hospital), but it was so good! Like a combination of artichoke dip + mac ‘n cheese.

My mom and I also made our caramel pecan rolls (scroll to the bottom of the page for the recipe), which have accompanied us to Thanksgiving Dinner since the dawn of time.

My dad made one of his specialties: wine-poached pears. So simple, so flavorful.

The next morning, we made a breakfast of leftovers: toast with baked artichoke squares + caramel pecan rolls (x2!).

The leftover party continued at Carlos and Jen’s.

They had us over to eat some of the best pumpkin pie I’ve ever had! And a fabulous bourbon bread pudding with ooey-gooey caramel sauce.

B had fun watching funny animal videos with Diego… good times for everyone!

Can you believe this is the fourth Thanksgiving post I’ve written for LVP? I can’t. Time flies!
