Thank Vök It's NYE ...

We're not even sure how we managed to stumble across Vök, but we know that this is one of those pleasant surprises that only get better the more you listen in. The vocals are as sweet as can be, the pace is instantly settling, and the secret weapon comes in the form of instrumentation, a little further in, and just when you think you may be getting complacent.
It's ridiculously easy to compare this to The XX at the start. The guitar riff is somewhat similar to something that they would think up, and even the vocals are relatively the same. You'll only notice a major difference when their secret weapon, brass, comes in to play. The saxophones and beat all make their presence known, and the whole thing blows up.
The duo, from Iceland, clearly make a lasting impression with their sound, and we reckon that, given that they could easily take up a supporting slot for The XX, their careers should quickly gain some momentum in the New Year.
We reckon this sort of thing, seeing as it really begins to pick up some pace towards the middle and end, would go brilliantly in a party environment, or alongside a video which features a slow-mo version of a drunken party. They just happen to be able to build an incredible atmosphere, and then build on that structure with the genius idea of brass ... and a vocal riff that'll stick in your head for years to come!!
