Tesla Model Y. Owner, the electric car maker heard your requests. Reports surfaced Friday from owners showing that the automaker has started rolling out an Acceleration Boost upgrade package for wireless installation. The upgrade is available for all dual-engine Model Y AWD models and costs $ 2,000.
It's not a shocking twist as Tesla is also offering the upgrade for Model 3 Sedans, but electric SUV owners have long asked CEO Elon Musk on Twitter for the same upgrade for their Model Y vehicles. With the upgrade installed, the SUV's 0-60 mph drops by half a second from 4.8 seconds to 4.3 seconds. Tesla didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on the new upgrade.
It's not a bad, happy medium considering that the Model Y's performance costs $ 10,000 more than the Model Y's twin-engine AWD. The Performance variant reaches a speed of 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds Hour, but also has bigger brakes, a higher top speed and lower suspension. On the other hand, not everything is measured in 0-60 mph.
