Story: Tell It to the Bees starts as we meet Lydia Weekes (Grainger) who is trying her best to raise her son Charlie (Selkirk) in 1950s Britain. She is a single mother and doesn’t have a man in her life. Meanwhile, her son gets injured and local doctor Jean Markham (Paquin) treats him and offers him a chance to talk to her bees.

When Lydia falls on hard times, Jean offers her a place in her home as the housekeeper. However, they become closer and one thing leads to another. It doesn’t take long for the village to learn their secrets and their reputations are put in question.

Verdict on Tell It to the Bees

Tell It to the Bees is a romantic drama following a struggling mother who falls in love with the local female doctor. As they start a relationship, the rest of the village begins judging them for their relationship, causing devastating consequences.

This movie takes us into an era where same-sex relationships were still frowned upon. It shows the secrets the couple needed, which caused problems when the town found out. However, nobody involved does anything wrong, they must prove their value to the village. This creates a forbidden love story which is designed to teach a younger mind about what is right in life. It has a big message and shows the struggles many people went through.
