I read this book compulsively over the weekend, enjoying every bit of all the chills and thrills in this crime noir set in modern-day Egypt.
Here’s a quote from the book. In a time of increasing religious intolerance, I found myself nodding sympathetically with the good doctor’s bitterness in the snippet below:
Religion is a fraud. No, he wagged a finger unsteadily. It’s a disease. It allows people to look down on their fellow man while extolling the virtues of brotherly love. They withdraw from the world and prepare for paradise and the hereafter where they are assured of a good seat to watch the rest of us burn. A pest, a plague. Religion is a parasite that preys on us all.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
