Teaser Tuesday [13] & Top Ten Tuesday [1]

By Literaryexploration @Lit_Explorer
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's Teaser is from... Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
I clenched my jaw against chattering teeth. Tremors wracked through me as I searched for escape, but he was blocking the only path. I could try beating him up, or swimming to another shore where he couldn't follow. Both were unlikely to work, especially since getting back in the freezing lake was the last thing I wanted. He'd probably save me again.

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the BookishTop Ten Authors I'd Love To Have At My Thanksgiving Feast
1. J.K. Rowling (The Harry Potter series)
Harry Potter is one of my all time favorite series. It sparked my love for reading when I was younger and I can still relate to everything about it. I'd love to meet the wonderful author who wrote the first book on some napkins!! I bet she's amazing.
2. C.S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia series)
I've been obsessed with The Chronicles of Narnia ever since I saw the first movie. I immediately ran out and bought all the books and read them in only a couple days. I've written many papers on Lewis' books and I'd love to chat about all of the Christian allegories in the series in person!
3. Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games series)
The Hunger Games series really sparked my love for dystopians! I'd love to sit down and pick the brain of the woman who thought up that series! It's by far one of my favorite series EVER!!!
4. Jodi Meadows (Incarnate)
If you follow me on Twitter, you know how obsessed I am with Jodi's debut book Incarnate. In fact, I'm reading it right now! Look! It's up there ^ And it's amazing. I'd love to have Jodi over; she could bring her ferrets and knit me some fingerless gloves!
5. Scott Westerfeld (The Uglies series, Leviathan)
Although I haven't read Leviathan or the rest of the series yet, I do have them! I loved Uglies and the remaining books in the series, and I would love to sit down with Westerfeld and seriously fangirl over his talent!!
6. Michelle Hodkin (The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer)
Have you read Mara Dyer yet?? If you haven't you really need to. It was by far the best book I've read all year and I would DIE if Michelle Hodkin showed up at my house with pumpkin pie.
7. Laurie Halse Anderson (Speak, Wintergirls)
Speak is one of the most inspirational books I've ever read, and I'd love to formally meet the woman behind it. I've seen some of her interviews and presentations and she's hilarious! She would probably be the one keeping everyone entertained while Suzanne and Scott argued over Dystopians or something.
8. Margaret Atwood (Oryx and Crake, The Year of the Flood)
Have you read any of Atwood's books?? I know, she's not YA, but she's awesome!!! I'm in love!! I'm pretty sure she's a feminist, which I am far from, but I would love to listen to her talk about anything! I think I own more Atwood books than anything else right now.
9. Lauren Oliver (Delirium, Before I Fall)
I own all of Lauren Oliver's books and they are AWESOME! I would absolutely LOVE to have her at my table!
10. Veronica Roth (Divergent)
If you haven't read Divergent yet you really need to. It's ridiculously amazing, and needs to be any addition to your Dystopian collection!
