Tea Towel Beach Bag

By Thehousethatlarsbuilt @houselarsbuilt
Aaaaand, here's my latest for Laura Ashley, a reversible tea towel beach bag. Laura Ashley has the cutest tea towel set and I wanted to use it in a new way. After figuring out the possibilities, I thought a beach bag would be perfect for the summer and I love how it turned out. Check out the full instructions below.

Materials:
  • Laura Ashley tea towel set
  • Thread
  • Rope
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Machine
  • Grommet Set
Step 1: Place your tea towels facing each other.
Step 2: Pin around the edge of the towels.Step 3: Sew around the perimeter of the towels leaving one end open.
Step 4: Turn the bag inside out.
Step 5: Fold the top edge in about 7".
Step 6: Mark your grommets about 1.5" from the top of the bag. You do not want them evenly spaced. Space the inner two holes farther apart. This will help with the balance when you want to place the handle on your arm.
Step 7: Follow the directions on the grommet package to insert the grommets. Make sure that the grommets fit the width of the rope before you buy them.
Step 8: Make a knot on one end of the rope and insert the rope through until the end. Do not cut it yet.
Step 9: Repeat on the other side of the bag.
Step 10: Establish how long you want your handle to be and cut the rope to the same length. make sure you factor in the amount of rope it takes to tie in a knot again.Step 11: End it with a knot. photography by Trisha Zemp
