#TBT MySpace

Before Facebook became an everyday necessity, Twitter turned into a pastime and blogging was 'thing' there was MySpace which incorporated all of these things, in one. It was the place for the first 'social media generation', a place to be creative, easily interact with people from other countries for the first time, discover new music, make friends, write down your thoughts for people to read, share pictures, it was a groundbreaking system which fell away as the likes of Facebook, Twitter and blogging sites stole elements of MySpace and did it better.
People who were too old or too young won't understand the importance of MySpace, it gets a bad name as it failed to move with the time but for me and my generation it was our world which we lived in for a good few years. I found new music, made friends and saw Patrick Wolf busk on the Southbank after he posted a bulletin to tell his fans about this. A 'bulletin' was the equivalent of a 'tweet' and his fans (or 'friends' as MySpace called them) was his followers.
I spent my first year at uni writing about daft stuff that happened in my life which was essentially blogging and kept in touch with friends, this was what Facebook became.
MySpace, I will always remember you fondly.
