Cess levied on imported cement has been increased with effect from 17th June onwards.
Accordingly, the cess of 3 rupees imposed on 1 kg of artificially colored or uncolored white cement has been increased to 5 rupees.
In addition, the investment promotion ministry stated that the cess of 5 rupees for 1 kg of Portland cement imported in packages of 50 kg and less has been increased to 8 rupees.
Other portland cement imported in bulk in packages of 50 kg and above has been increased from Rs 3 to Rs 5 per 1 kg.
