The actress, who has shared that her career took off later in life, told the crowd that she never gave up, because what would that teach her son or the generation coming behind her.
The What Men Want actress was joined at the ceremony by her grandmother, her son, fiance, former NFL player Kelvin Hayden, friend Mary J. Blige, and producer John Singleton.
