Dog Is Dead are quickly making the most highly anticipated album this year. All Our Favourite Stories, which is released on October 8th, is something I've been able to acquire before its release ... but today, it's not so much about the album, but very much so about their new single, Talk Through The Night.
The playful beginning opens up on a particularly retro voiceover, only to be undercut by an old school crime drama theme, to then retrieve the retro advertisement voiceover treatment once again ... However, once the camaraderie, which could have been well placed within The Glockenspiel Song, is over, the slow paced and beautiful set comes along to wash over the antics.
A muted picking of the guitar opens this all up and after a short intro, the much less playful side of Dog Is Dead comes forth ... though, in the video, they are as funny and warming as ever.
The vocal isn't even remotely harsh and plays softly in to the listener's ear, whilst, all the while a light but poignant high pitched riff plays and the use of cymbals is often and heavier than you'd expect.
All in all, this makes something bloody beautiful and is a particularly sweet track about friends, friendship and the things you'd do for each other ... camaraderie is evidently the correct word for this particularly brilliant band who will make massive waves come October 8th.
