Taliban Govt Stops Media Outlets from Holding Conference

New Delhi: The Taliban government in Afghanistan prevents media outlets from holding a press conference in Kabul rather than concerns about media status in the country, reporting media organizations.

This conference should be held on Wednesday in Kabul, reporting Tolo news.

Afghan journalist center in a statement said the conference must be attended by 11 representatives from various media organizations.

However, all national and international media outlets include, because verbal orders of Islamic Emirates officials, the conference was canceled, “said Ali Asghar Akbarzada, head of the Afghan National Journalist Union.

Afghan National Journalist Member said that the Islamic Emirates instructed them not to hold conferences until they accept permission.

“We call the Islamic Emirates to complete their decisions in the future. They must make a decision as soon as possible and give us permission so we can hold a conference based on it,” said Akbarzada.

The Taliban government did not comment whether it banned the media outlet conference or not but said that it still supported the media, based on Islamic regulations.

More than 43 percent of media activities have been stopped and more than 60 percent of media employees have become unemployed because the Taliban sweeps power in Afghanistan, say media reports.
