The Taliban is famous for a strong action against women’s rights. The list of Taliban violations of women and girls’ rights has been long and continues to grow, said Heather Barr, the division of women’s rights in Human Rights Watch (HRW), when he raised concerns about violations of rights in the country. When the Taliban announced in May that women and girls could not leave their home unless needed and had to do it only with their whole body including their closed faces, only a few were surprised.
“Some other Afghan diplomats and observers who listen to Taliban leaders promised during negotiations and at their press conference two days after winning capital that they would respect all women’s rights this time, including freedom of movement and access to work and education,” Barr said.
He said the Afghan Women’s Rights activist warned so far that the promises of the Taliban to respect the rights of women were wrong. Afghan rights activists warned on days after the Taliban took the capital, Kabul, on August 15, 2021, that the group would intensify their hard actions against women.Since the takeover of the Taliban, there have been many statements that condemn their abuse from international and regional organizations and countries.
