Take Your Pyjamas Shopping...

It is a debate that is sure to rumble on for many months, and one that periodically makes the news. It also isn’t one that is ever going to reach a conclusion however as there are clear supporters on both sides. The debate in question is of course the right to wear pyjamas in public - if that appeals to you. The fight first came to light in the summer when a woman in Wales was refused service in her local supermarket because she was still in her nightwear, and naturally others came forward reporting they too had received the same treatment. When these stories made the news, the public quickly formed into three clear camps. Those who think pyjamas and nightwear are indeed items for the house only, those who aren’t overly bothered one way or the other and those of course who think that the lady was treated unfairly and her human rights violated.

Now the debate has moved into Ireland with the latest case making the press involving the residents of a housing association and their right to go outside in their nightwear, this time the story actually focuses on the courts, who were cross at being asked to get involved. The Attorney General was recorded as ruling that this was not an area for the law to be roped into and he threw it out of the courts. So clearly there isn’t going to be any quick resolution for that group of people either. The debate brings into question some of the clothes ladies, and gents wear when the weather gets warmer, with pro-pyjama groups pointing out (and perhaps rightly so) that summer cropped trousers and vest tops are more revealing and transparent than some pyjamas so where do we draw the line.

Is it right for a grown up to be in a supermarket in fluffy bunny slippers and pyjamas with cartoon style creatures depicted in their own nightwear emblazoned on the front? Does this signify a drop in general living standards for the nation as a whole? To be honest we actually think we prefer to live and let live, but we do have an opinion on what pyjamas you do wear whether in or outside of your home! The key, in our humble opinion is finding the balance between comfort and style (and to be honest cutesy cartoon creations don’t really have a place in the adult nightwear world). Have a look at our range of nightwear, paying particular attention to the pyjama section. Luxurious materials have been expertly combined with colour and style by leading designers of nightwear and the results are just stunning. In fact we would forgive you if you felt the need to showcase these in public because they really are that good. So perhaps it is time to consider a pyjama spring clean and replace some older pairs with something a little more designer, especially if you are going to use them as loungewear (within the comfort of your own home!)
