Story: Sympathy for the Devil starts when a mild-mannered taxi driver (Kinnaman) is preparing to join his wife for the birth of their next child. However, he gets an unexpected passenger (Cage) who demands he take him somewhere are gunpoint.

As the pair travel around the night the Passenger shows a much darker side. Although the Driver does what he can to escape, it ends up leaving a host of bodies in their path. The Driver must continue to follow instructions, as he waits to see what the Passenger truly wants from him.

Verdict on Sympathy for the Devil

Sympathy for the Devil is an action thriller following a quiet driver who finds himself forced into taking another passenger. He gets taken on a journey with the passenger showing a darker rampage through the city, waiting to see what he wants from him.

This is a movie that feels a lot like Collateral without having the same style. It puts out a big mystery behind what the Driver has been selected, keeping us on edge as to why. However, the rampage the Passenger goes on makes things difficult to get behind. It all feels like we just waiting for the reveal and everything else just happens without any real meaning behind it. This feels like one of the weaker Nicolas Cage movies of late and one you will quickly forget.

Where to Watch: Signature Entertainment presents Sympathy for the Devil on Digital Platforms 8th September

Final Thoughts Sympathy for the Devil is a less stylish Collateral.
