Private shows are always interesting to be a part of, particularly when the event is held, like Sydney Wayser’s (@sydneywayser), in an intriguing new place — The Norwood, a brownstone turned artsy lounge. The guests were led to a small room upstairs where Wayser and her fellow bandmates would later perform. Several instruments were already laid out, then Sydney, dressed with a flower headpiece, entered the stage area and began performing songs from her latest album Bell Choir Coast. Each song was simple, beautiful and completely unique, and the trio backing Wayser worked smoothly and subtly in unison with her voice. Hearing the new tracks in such an intimate setting was a fantastic treat, and I speak for all those attending when I say that we’re looking forward to her Joe’s Pub performance later this month.
