Justin and Johnathon Fox, owners of Fox Brothers BBQ, lent their smoking expertise to the gang at SweetWater to come up with the beer that promises to remind beer-lovers of a Baltic Porter or Rauchbeir. Over the course of three days, the crew from Fox Brothers smoked one ton of malt on their wood-burning Lang smokers, using nothing but hickory. Each batch of malt smoked for five hours at 250 degrees to get a nice toast and plenty of good smoke without burning it. In addition, racks of bacon were added to the smokers to infuse a bacon flavor into the malt.
The brewery plans a taproom launch party for Pulled Porter on Sunday, January 17. Bombers and draft pours of the brew will be available wherever SweetWater is poured in the next few weeks.
