Sweetpeas at Easton Walled Gardens

By Ozhene @papaver

Hurrah it is sweetpea time again, always a joy. I was thinking of where to go and spend an afternoon with a friend and suddenly Easton Walled Gardens sprang to mind. This is always a favourite garden and definitely the top of the pops for sweetpeas.

It was a bit cloudy, but it was warm enough when I visited. The main reason for the visit was to see the sweetpeas, so we headed for them first.

Except I was immediately distracted by this wonderful succulent display.

I want this one, I really want this one.

I eventually did reach the sweetpeas and it was worth it.

There was much sniffing. The weather was not quite warm enough to make the scent strong, but a good sniff found it soon enough.

Different colours and varying degrees of frill were compared and contrasted.

Look at the colours on this one - Linda Carole - I like to think it might have been based on her petticoats.

There were so many sweetpeas to enjoy, including these rather lovely perennial ones. I cannot see my perennial sweetpeas this year, I think they may have keeled over, which is a huge shame. I must replace them.

We had a really lovely visit and some very good cake. As ever I think I should visit more often as I always enjoy it when I do.

Take care and be kind.
